[Ta Kung Pao] Comprehensive AFP and "New York Times" reports: U.S. President Trump was recently suspected of putting pressure on Ukraine to collect dark materials on Democratic presidential candidate Biden and his son. Trump posted a message on social networking sites on the 21st, once again denying that he had "done anything wrong." Biden urged the authorities to thoroughly investigate Trump, and other Democratic candidates quickly used Trump's scandal to take action. Some media pointed out that the incident may become a frontline battle for the 2020 election, and Trump's use of diplomacy to help his election cause controversy.

The "Washington Daily" quoted news on the 20th that Trump had pressured Ukrainian President Zelensky eight times in a row to investigate Biden's son Hunter. Hunter serves as a director of the Ukrainian natural gas company "Burisma Holdings" and has been accused of possible corruption. Reports indicate that Trump is trying to use Biden's son as black material to undermine Biden's election.

Democrats condemned Trump for attacking political opponents at all costs. When Biden attended a campaign event in Iowa on the 21st, he criticized Trump's move as an "abuse of power." He said unhappily that if Trump finds that his power is threatened, he will do whatever it takes. He also asked Congress to intervene to investigate whether Trump abused his power.

Trump strongly denied this, saying that the incident was another "persecution" of him by the Democratic Party, and urged the media to turn their attention to Biden. He said that in 2016, then-Vice President Biden asked the Ukrainian authorities to fire a Ukrainian prosecutor as a condition of a loan to Ukraine. The prosecutor was investigating his son Hunter and the natural gas company where he worked. But there is currently no evidence to support Trump's claims.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied that Trump had pressured Zelensky during the phone call, emphasizing that Ukraine would not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.

Other Democratic candidates have been quick to capitalize on Trump's scandal. Democratic candidate Warren claimed in her primary speech on the afternoon of the 21st that if elected president, she would crack down on political corruption and called for the initiation of impeachment proceedings against Trump. "By failing to take impeachment action, Congress has become an accomplice of Trump's pursuit of foreign interference to aid his campaign." The latest poll on the 21st showed that in Iowa, Warren's support rate was 22%, surpassing other Democratic candidates including Biden (20%).
